Luft is a multi-disciplinary initiative featuring the work of artists working across the disciplines of visual art, creative writing and music.
Luft will draw together visual artists, writers and musicians to create work in direct response to an original music composition.
World renowned Music Producer and Engineer, Peter Cobbin, has composed a piece of music for this creative arts project and participating creatives will use this musical composition as a stimulus to make the work.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29
Opening Event
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7 at 2 pm at Mounted ARI

80 Paterson Rd, Springwood.
Visual Artist Information
The project requires artists to create, especially for this exhibition, an original work of art based upon, or stimulated by Peter’s piece of music, LUFT. We have deliberately chosen not to provide potential artists with any specific contextual information about the piece and its creation as we do not wish to limit, or steer in a particular direction, your responses to the musical composition. It is important that you have the creative freedom to go wherever the music takes you. We welcome all forms of visual art including, but not limited to, paintings, printmaking, sculpture, drawing, photography.
Completed artworks will be displayed in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.
In seeking to be part of this exhibition, we require artists to submit a Project Proposal for consideration by Mounted. This involves providing us with a short description of the work you intend to create.
Upon receipt of these Project Proposals, Mounted will select and invite a group of artists to work with on this project.
This proposal should address the following areas:
- the medium(s) you intend to work with.
- the concepts/ideas that you are working with, and how this is a response to the stimulus music.
- A loose description of what the final work might look like, including approximate dimensions.
Following my project proposal, I received this commendation from the gallery… ‘The committee were obviously impressed with your skill as an artist and your capacity to produce work of high quality. Your concept about an approaching storm in response to the music was very apt, establishing a strong link with the music and the natural world.
Peter Cobbin made a video to go with the music and it featured a wild landscape in the UK in bad weather, so you are in simpatico with his work.‘ Mark Denny
